I really enjoyed your paint brush characters!! I think I will have to have a group photo of them! Your stacked paper sculptures were very creative as well. Thanks for all of the extra "hands". Those packing tape hands will make a nice lighted display.
BRING YOUR STUFFED ANIMAL TO CLASS NEXT WEEK!!! ( April 24)
The Art Show will be in the evening on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, May 9 ,11 and 12 at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. The church is at 500 West Calle Concordia.
Please vote for art classes you hope to take next year!

Your floral foam sculptures turned out so well! A difficult medium to work with-with great results!  Next we will sculpt our paint brush "characters" using plaster mesh. Remember, you will need a small stuffed animal or doll for a project in April. Lots of fun projects to come!!

Your homework this week is to finish your design for the floral foam sculpture. My homework is to try some different finishes to make the sculpture more sturdy and hide the green color. For the next two classes we will sculpt and finish the pieces.

I have heard a lot of positive comments about your wire/nylon sculptures!  I will have the paints next week for those of you that need to finish.  For those that are done, I will bring a short project for you to do.  Our next project will be "subtractive" sculpture. You will need your sketchbook for preliminary sketches.

Your Letters/Symbols turned out great! I loved seeing your creativity emerge on these unusual canvases!
We will spend the next three weeks, between Thanksgiving and Christmas break, on a more abstract sculptural piece.
Please bring your sketchbook to each class! You will be doing some design work on paper for the next project.
         No classes next week-Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We are currently working on our 3D initials or symbols. If your piece is not yet assembled, you may come at 9am on Monday to finish. (I have a class at that time, so you will need to work quietly:) We need to prime these so we can paint next week. Be thinking about (and sketching) some ideas for the design on your assembled piece. Bring your sketchbook!!

We will also be working on a collaborative piece of art that will be at the auction during the Quest Fall Gala on Nov. 11. I hope you will plan on attending! I will have a Christmas card making booth starting at 4:00. Donations to Quest are appreciated.

Well, we finally finished those batik aprons! I think they turned out great! Even though some brands of dye spread during rinsing, the results were really cool! I hope you are happy with them. They will be displayed at the Art Show in May, but you may use them until then.
Now we are working on a 3D letter or symbol. Craftsmanship will be important for this project, so take your time-don't rush. Hopefully we can assemble these next week and begin to decorate them. Use you sketchbook to try out some designs. What Art media do you think we should use?

Welcome to 3-D Art! Our first project is a Batik apron. Some of you will be ready to begin dyeing next week.  We will be using fabric dye, so protect your clothes!
You need to bring your sketchbook to class each week.
