·      reminder: voici and voilà can be used interchangeably to mean here is/this is (i.e. voici/voilà mon fils). Also, remember that “lui” means him which is different from “il” which means he.

·      when studying les numèros 0-69, make sure you know how to spell 0-20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 in french.  Then you’ll know all the other numbers in between because they repeat.

2.    Review the verb s’appeler and look over the dialogues in le livre (page 5) so you are confident how to use this verb.

La Boîte Jaune Pleine d’Occasion! (Yellow Box Full of Opportunity!)

Quatrième Semaine - le 4 octobre 2016

Les Devoirs (homework) – due on October 11 ~ le 11 octobre:

1.     Practice reading the 3 Dialogues aloud (en français) on la page 2 in le livre

v  If there are any unfamiliar vocabulary words, add them to Quizlet and écoutez et répétez everyday.  The English translation is there for you.

2.    Do exercises A and B on la page 2 – make sure to do these on a separate sheet of paper since you will be handing these in on Oct 11.  Please put your name (votre nom) on everything you turn in or you will not get credit.

3.    Review the verb s’appeler we learned in class.  You can go to this link on TV5Monde to listen to the pronunciation: http://apprendre.tv5monde.com/fr/apprendre-francais/grammaire-le-verbe-etre-et-le-verbe-sappeler-au-present OR you can make a set in Quizlet

4.    Practice reading the 2 Dialogues aloud en français on la page 5.  I know we didn’t have time to read these in class, but I think after going through our partnering exercise you all have a good understanding of the verb s’appeler and how to use it.

v  Again, if there are any unfamiliar vocabulary words, add them to Quizlet and écoutez et répétez everyday.

5.    Do exercises D, E, and G on la page 8 – you will also hand this in on Oct 11

6.    Read pages 9-10 in le livre to review the 3 vowel sounds you learned in class.  Make a Quizlet set for each group of words (they are listed under each of the 3 sounds).  Make sure to practice:  écoutez et répétez everyday, especially since some of you had a harder time distinguishing the difference between the tu and vous pronunciation.

HELPFUL HINT: when pronouncing the “u” in tu, you are actually saying the letter “u” in French.  When pronouncing the “ou” like in vous, it sounds like the English “oo” like in food, moose, etc..

Please contact me if you need any help!

Troisième Semaine - le 27 septembre 2016

Les Devoirs (homework) – due on October 4 ~ le 4 octobre:

v  Vocubulaire: Les Commandes de la classe

v  Vocabulaire: Les salutations – faire connaissance

v  Subject Pronouns

v  Verset de la Bible

v  Les lettres de l’alphabet

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will NOT be spending much time in class reviewing the above vocabulary – instead we will be putting it into practice so keep practicing every day until you can recognize each word quickly and easily

2.    Research how many countries have French as their official language.  Either print out a list or write them down and put them in your binder – we will be using this list later in the semester.

3.    In preparation for class next week please read the following in le livre (textbook)

a.     Page 4 – top paragraph about formal and informal

Seconde Semaine - le 20 septembre 2016

Les Devoirs (homework):

1.     Get the Quizlet App (it’s FREE) – you will be using this App instead of the iTranslate App.  It’s easier and more practical – you’ll need to create study sets for the following this week:

v  Vocubulaire: Les Commandes de la classe (all of them from last week and this week)

v  Vocabulaire: Les salutations – faire connaissance (see handout)

v  Subject Pronouns: we discussed these in class and you should have copied them from le tableau (the board) – you can also refer to page 19 in le livre (textbook)

v  Verset de la Bible: make a study set by breaking up the verse as follows…

- Marc chapitre 16

- Verset 15

- Allez par tout le monde

- et prêchez la bonne nouvelle

- à tout la création

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure when you type in the words that you include the accents on letters.  Otherwise the pronunciation will be incorrect.  To type letters with accents, just hold your finger on the letter and you will see other options for that letter pop up with the different accents. Choose the correct letter and accent by moving your finger over it.

FOR HELP:  If you have any questions about how to use this App or how to make these study sets, please contact Emily at emilyfarns5@gmail.com or 520-433-0513.  She uses this App a lot and knows it quite well.

2.    Once you have created your study sets above, you will need to:

a.     Écoutez et répétez vocubulaire (Les salutations) for 5-10 min every day.

b.     Écoutez et répétez the subject pronouns every day

c.     Continue saying les lettres d’alphabet (the letters of the alphabet) en français using this link:

http://apprendre.tv5monde.com/fr/apprendre-francais/prononciation-les-lettres-de-lalphabet

Écoutez and répétez the letters for 5-10 minutes every day or until you feel confident!

d.     Écoutez  le Verset de la Bible - Marc 16,15 using Quizlet. Répétez 5-10 min every day.

Please contact me if you need any help!
