Illuminated Bible Art

The class is run in conjunction with the Apologetics class taught by Pastor Dave Collins. Following the discussion in the Apologetics class, students will learn a bit about traditional styles, methods and techniques that Christians around the world have used in decorating their Bibles.

  • I would like to see your style in coloring, choosing colors, and decorating. Please color the coloring sheet in any way you’d like, using only 3 colors. You may add any extra decorations you’d like. This will be due next week, Sept. 19.

1. Using the motifs and simple designs we discussed in class, create a design for a bookmark. Do a few different compositions and designs until you come up with one you really like.

2. Copy your design onto the bookmark you were given. 

3. Outline and color it in. If you would like metallic (gold, copper, silver) highlights, we can do those next week in class.  DUE SEPT. 2

  • Use colors like red, green, blue and gold.
  • Draw a blueprint plan of your design to be added in to your Bible next week. It should be no larger than 2 ¼’ x 8” in order to fit.
