Hello, painters!

Remember to start getting your supplies and please try to have them all by the 9/27 so we can start right in with your first painting.

For next week (9/20): please bring in one or more pictures of something you might want to paint. Remember, our first painting will be "wildlife" themed. Try to get a very clear image. The more detail you can see in the photograph, the better.

I look forward to seeing you all next week!

Hello, students! I hope you haven't had any trouble getting your supplies. Again, please let me know if you have any questions.

Here is an example of the kinds of paints to get:

If you can't find these, no worries, just get a good quality type of acrylics. (Ask the art store employees for suggestions.)

Remember to bring in picture(s) you would like to use as a reference for your painting. And make sure you have at least your one inch brush and your first gesso board as we are going to be working on backgrounds. I'm so excited to see these paintings come to life!

Hi, Students! Please work on your backgrounds this week. Remember to let the first layer dry fully (24 hours is ideal) before applying the second.

Please also watch the following videos:

Let me know if you have ANY questions! Happy painting! :)

Students: Please work at least 1 hour on your painting before next week. (Ideally, you should aim for 2-4 hours.) We will be moving on to a new project in two weeks, so we need to get these done!

If you have any questions or are just needing motivation, please contact me! :)

Reminder: Start looking for portrait ideas. Keep in mind, it needs to be from the waist or shoulders up and a very clear image, not fuzzy or blurry. You can paint someone you know, but I would advise finding a picture of someone you don't recognize for this first one.

See you in class!

Keep Painting! :) I will show you how to add a varnish on next week. Each of you needs to spend time each week on your painting outside of class. If you are having trouble doing this, please let me know.

Please acquire the most clear print of your reference photo and bring it in next week so we can start portraits. (Ideally, if you are painting on an 8x10 canvas, your image should be printed in 8x10.) Start thinking about background colors.

I will bring several gesso boards. If you need one, you can buy it from me for $6.

Looking forward to painting together next week

Hello, painters! Please work hard this week to get as much done on your paintings as you can. At least 1 hour of painting outside of class, but for some of you it needs to be 2-3 hours. Remember you need to have at least one of your paintings completely done for the Fine Arts Festival! Please email me with any questions. Happy painting!
